(Singapore) Demand for organic food has increased 15 percent since June this year, according to the Living Green Association, a non-profit organic food society.
It attributes this to increasing concern about bird flu and with Singaporeans looking for more alternative food choices and turning to organic food.
An organic grocery store, for instance, saw business shoot up by 20% over the past two months, especially since the bird flu scare.
Fun Hwee Leng, director of Eat Organic, said: "Lately, we see a lot of interest from our customers, both regulars and new customers, about the organic chickens. This group of people are aware of the benefits of eating organic chickens. They're antibiotic-free, hormone-free. They're fed organically grown grains of feed and they're not given animal proteins."
